Enjoyed your poem very much. It reminded me of home in Mississippi and how things are done Southern Style. I have learned how different people are and how differently things are done in different areas. Thank you GOD for planting me in the good ole South.

The “ancient oaks” come alive in this poem–are they the trees or the people gathered for the funeral? I think both–what a wonderful, subtly drawn simile! Thank you for sharing your poetic gifts and for painting picture in words of how we Southerners say “farewell.”
