Verbum 2012 alpha 1 Verbum 2012: A simple, yet powerful word processorComputer software can be expensive. A copy of Microsoft Office 2010 can easily set you back $100. Even with student discount programs, you're talking around $80. That's a steep price to pay for writers to ply their craft. Luckily, there's a variety of good word processors for users to legally download and use. Verbum 2012 could be one of those word processors..

Currently, Verbum 2012 is in the alpha stage and should not be used in a production environment until the Rizone3 team releases a final version. But that shouldn't stop users from downloading Verbum and given the word processor for a spin.

From the developer's screenshot, i looks like the Rizone3 team opted to go with traditional toolbars, rather than the newer ribbon interface; but that shouldn't pose a problem for users familiar with word processors like OpenOffice.org Writer, AbiWord or Microsoft Word 2003.

Those interested in testing Verbum 2012 can download the software using the link below that will take you to the developer's website. You can learn a little more about Rizone3 from their about page as well.

And while I would agree, the purpose of the article is to shed light on new word processors making their debut. I wouldn’t used Verbum 2012 in a production environment, yet. But it is an interesting project with which to play around.
